Are you receiving the leadership and mentoring you need to make the transition?
Real estate is a career that can provide substantial financial rewards.
In the early part of your career, that reward is generated solely by your efforts and, as you know when you’re sick or go on holidays, those commission payments drop away. Smart agents, when they think about their long term career goals, are looking for a way to have a constant income stream that is not solely tied to their listing and selling activities. And the best way to achieve that is to become an equity holder in an office. But how do you achieve this?
At Barry Plant, we focus on the growth and development of our people with the very firm plan of helping those that show the commitment, aptitude and success into office ownership. To this end we have developed a culture of mentoring and training that is second to none.
From the nuts and bolts of successful listing and selling through to a comprehensive program of leadership development, we’ll give you the skills and opportunities to not only succeed but build significant wealth through equity.
We have over 80 offices, all at various points in their real estate journey – from newly recruited franchises still building their businesses to those who have been with us for over 20 years and have strong, constantly growing businesses but with senior principals looking for an exit strategy down the track . We understand how important it is to keep a business vibrant by adding new people with new ideas and a passion to succeed. People who will thrive under the guidance of a good leader and, when the time comes, will take up ownership.
We preach succession planning to our office principals and actively engage with them to put plans in place and, if necessary, recruit the right people for them. A measure of our success is that 80% of our current ownership is by people developed within the Barry Plant network.
Our Rowville franchise – one of the strongest in our group – is headed up by a man who started his real estate career as a rookie 24 years ago under the guidance of a long term franchisee in another office. From a junior to an award winning sales consultant to business owner at 32 years old – and now he is negotiating for two of his protégée’s to take equity to lock in the long term future of the business, plus provide an exit strategy for himself when the times comes.
Our Coburg franchisee has been with network for over 20 years. He took on two young partners – not only for succession purposes, but also to free himself up to concentrate on building the success of another office. One of his new partners was found at Barry Plant Recruitment evening six years ago. He had no real estate experience but with our structured training and the mentoring of his principal, he developed at a rate that meant he was automatically on the short list of possible partners.
Our Wantirna franchise is owned by two young men who underwent a six year apprenticeship under the guidance of one of our most successful franchisees. They progressed from personal assistants to successful sales consultants and two years ago, when the incumbent franchisee wanted to sell, not only took over this successful business but have taken it to the next level.
These are just a few examples of how our succession and equity plan works. Contact our Business Development Manager, Mark Lynch on 0419 559 840 or 03 9840 9555 and he can provide you with many more examples.
