Families eye bigger and better homes in the northwest

Hotly contested auctions with “astonishing” results have kick-started the October market in Hillside, 24km northwest of the CBD.

Four bidders battled for a four-bedroom house at 8 Colburn Court (Property image above and below)), on October 1, according to Barry Plant Taylors Lakes director James Hatzimoisis.

“The price soared well above seller’s expectations, with the gavel falling at an astonishing $992,000,” he said.

“We were expecting this property to sell in the high $800,000s.”

The luxury single-level house on 620sq m sold to a local family who appreciated the style and fit-out of the house.

Set in a beautifully landscaped garden, it features a stunning kitchen with waterfall stone benchtops, a deck with a built-in barbecue and a gas fireplace, plus all the modern comforts.

On the same day, a six-bedroom family home with three bathrooms and a triple garage at 14 Sovereign Way (image below), changed hands for $1.225 million.

More than 60 groups inspected the 1000sq m property before auction day, and after a strong contest, it sold $65,000 above the sellers’ reserve to a local family, Mr Hatzimoisis said.

The stunning showpiece with multiple living zones features a spa ensuite, renovated kitchen with stone benchtops and premium appliances, and a decked outdoor entertainment area with a built-in barbecue.

Quality lifestyle properties in Hillside were attracting strong interest from local families looking for the finer things in life, Mr Hatzimoisis said.

“They are drawing multiple bidders at auctions,” he added.

On September 17, six bidders competed for a five-bedroom house on 2700sq m at 71 Castlewellan Boulevard (image below), which sold well beyond the seller’s expectations for $1.911 million.

Sprawling behind a circular driveway, the grand home showcases luxurious living spaces, a blackwood timber kitchen, a professional wet bar plus a first-class alfresco area.

Hillside offers a variety of homes to meet most requirements, from entry-level villa units to larger lifestyle properties in prestigious estates, Mr Hatzimoisis said.

“This is a desirable place to live with everything at the doorstep,” he said.

Residents have easy access to public transport, major arterial roads, sports facilities, medical clinics and shops, including the Watergardens Town Centre with retail outlets and a train station.

Up for auction on October 15 with $720,000-$760,000 price hopes, a five-bedroom house at 14 Luscander Court (images below), is ideal for first-home buyers and growing families.

Located in a quiet court in the popular Banchory Grove Estate, it includes a renovated kitchen, family room with a fireplace and an entertainment deck.

The property is within walking distance of Cana Catholic Primary, parks and public transport.
