Barry Plant Point Cook Celebrates 20-Year Partnership with Point Cook Football Club

This year marks a remarkable milestone for the Point Cook Football Club and Barry Plant Point Cook, as they celebrate 20 years of partnership. It is a relationship that has not only supported local sport but also shaped a thriving community.

For two decades, Barry Plant Point Cook has proudly stood as the major sponsor of the Point Cook Football Club, supporting over 3,000 junior players to take the field in over 105,000 games of footy. It is a connection that goes far beyond branding. It is about legacy, growth and community.

To celebrate this monumental milestone, Tony Skrekovski, Director of Barry Plant Point Cook, invited Dave Rouvray, President of the Point Cook Football Club, Nicholas Buykx, captain of the senior men's team, Barry Plant, founder and former CEO of Barry Plant, along with a handful of players from both the men's and women's competitions, to join in the festivities – eating cake, having a kick, and taking commemorative photos.

“It makes a massive difference,” said Dave Rouvray, President of the Point Cook Football Club, between kicks of the football. “The partnership we’ve had with Barry Plant Point Cook over that time has had a huge impact on both our club and the wider community. The relationship we’ve built with their team is outstanding. They really support everything we do.”

And that support shows. With 33 teams set to hit the field again this season, Rouvray credits the Barry Plant team for making it all possible.

“We simply couldn’t do that without the ongoing support of Barry Plant Point Cook. Their commitment allows us to provide strong football programs to our community, and we’re truly grateful.”

For Tony Skrekovski, Director at Barry Plant Point Cook, the relationship is as much about the people as it is about the sport.

“Both Simon and I have a background in community involvement,” he said as he cut the commemorative cake. “When the opportunity came up to support the club, it felt like a no-brainer. We wanted to support local youth, families and the broader community.”

Reflecting on the impact, Skrekovski said, “It’s amazing. When Dave told me that over 3,000 junior footballers have run out wearing jerseys with the Barry Plant logo, I was genuinely surprised. I had no idea it was that many. It’s humbling to think our support has played a part in that. It’s never just been about the sport. It’s about giving kids something meaningful to be part of, helping them build friendships, confidence and life skills.”

When reflecting on the milestone, Barry Plant CEO Lisa Pennell praised the strong community spirit demonstrated by the Barry Plant Point Cook team.

“Our job as agents is to serve the community, and this 20-year sponsorship is a standout example of that. I’m proud of the lasting impact Tony, Simon, Ray, Nunzio and the whole team have had in Point Cook; it’s a testament to the positive difference Barry Plant can make.”

Barry Plant, founder of the real estate network that bears his name, believes the value of sporting clubs cannot be overstated – a sentiment he made clear while proudly wearing a Point Cook Football Club jersey.

“Sporting clubs are vital, not just football, but all kinds of community sport,” he said. “They’re the social fabric of our society. In my view, sport is just as important as school.”

He has watched the Point Cook office grow from humble beginnings to a staple of the community, praising the team’s long-term dedication.

“When they started 20 years ago, there wasn’t much in Point Cook. But Simon and Tony brought incredible energy to the area. Ray was one of the first to join, back when he was about 20. Now he’s turning 40 and a major part of the Point Cook office. His loyalty and commitment to the area speak volumes about the culture and community spirit that Simon and Tony have fostered.”

The suburb itself has flourished, evolving into a vibrant and well-rounded community. And through it all, the Barry Plant logo has remained a familiar sight on the jerseys of young Bulldogs, week in and week out.

When asked if this kind of community involvement makes him proud, Plant didn’t hesitate.

“Absolutely,” he said. “We earn our living by providing a service to the people here, so it’s important to give back. And when you do, you often find the community gives back even more.”

Twenty years of shared purpose. Thousands of young players given a chance to thrive. A club stronger than ever. This is not just a sponsorship. It is a partnership that continues to make Point Cook a better place to live, play and grow.
