Amidst all the mixed messaging that has been floating around regarding the property market this Spring, there seems to be a trend emerging in our part of Melbourne’s northern corridor that will be music to the ears of anyone planning on selling before the end of 2026.

What we are noticing here at Barry Plant Thomastown, despite the arrival of the latest interest rate rise by the Reserve Bank and the misguided negativity on property prices from some people, is that there is still a solid level of underlying demand from many homebuyers in our area.

One example of this became clear during the sale of an extensively renovated three-bedroom home in Stanley Court, Thomastown. Combining a peaceful court setting with impressive quality finishes, this appealing family home attracted strong enquiry levels from the moment it hit the market. Competitive negotiations resulted in a very pleasing sale to a couple who achieved their long-awaited dream of securing their first home (pictured).

Another example involved the early sale prior to auction of a two-bedroom unit with immense potential for future renovations in Symon Crescent, Thomastown. The lead-up to next week’s scheduled auction produced strong interest from multiple buyers, with the competition producing an outstanding sales result which resulted in smiles all round when the SOLD sign went up this week.

Results like these provide further confirmation that there are quite a large number of homebuyers who are keen to buy in our part of town, no matter what some sections of the media would have you believe. What you need to keep in mind, however, is that there are now just seven weekends left in the Spring of 2026.

So, if you’re keen to take your next step on your property journey with confidence and a clear plan, don’t hesitate to give our team of local experts at Barry Plant Thomastown a call this week on 9466 3233.

Con Constantinou
