It is situated directly behind the Ballarat Botanical Gardens and is just a short walk from Lake Wendouree.

Unlike surrounding areas, Lake Gardens has no commercial or retail zone. Residents typically travel to nearby Wendouree or Alfredton for shopping and services.

Located within the suburb, this facility offers heated pools, a gym, and various fitness programs.
