A recent article in The Age revealed some interesting facts on the ways that Melbourne’s population is increasing showing that two-thirds of the population growth in the past year has been from overseas migration.
The top most popular suburbs for these migrants was Melbourne, Clayton, Carlton, North Melbourne, Dandenong, Box Hill, Burwood, Tarneit, Docklands and St Kilda. Cranbourne East received the most internal migration of anywhere in Australia over the past year. Australians also liked moving to Mernda, Melton South, Beaconsfield-Officer, Tarneit, Truganina, Wollert, Hillside, Point Cook – East and Mickleham – Yuroke.
Melbourne’s population grew by about 120,000 people last year, and that’s great news for the housing market.
Recently at Barry Plant, there were some interesting real estate sales achieved… In Pascoe Vale South a highly functional polished four bedroom home with double glazing and great alfresco amenities sold for $1,420,000. In Mitcham, a roomy four bedroom home on a very large block offered immediate family living with development potential. A spacious three bedroom home in Doreen with study and rumpus room sold for $645,000. In Craigieburn a pretty three bedroom home in a tightly held street adjacent to parklands sold for $545,000.
