With Melbourne’s median house sale price soaring past $1 million, homebuyers face the challenge of securing homes priced below $400,000.
First-home buyers and investors are looking to the western suburbs, including Melton, Darley, Kurunjang and Harkness, which still offer houses in this price range. Barry Plant Melton sales agent Zack Ninkovic said these properties are attracting strong interest, with multiple groups attending open house inspections. Once they come on the market, they are snapped up, including three-bedroom houses at 34 Penguin Street, Melton, that sold recently for $360,000, and 2 Coolabah Court, Kuranjang, that changed hands for $380,000.
