Which rental ads can you trust?

Have you ever been searching online for a rental property and come across an ad that seemed “too good to be true”?

Perhaps you’ve made enquiries on a property and found yourself dealing with a landlord who seemed a little too evasive? It seems you’re not alone!

Consumer Affairs Victoria has created a humorous little video from “Stevie’s Scam School” that is designed to show prospective tenants how to avoid getting ripped off when looking for rental properties online.

Some of the warning signs to watch out for include… Landlords who ask for money before you’ve inspected the property; Such as an up-front payment to secure the house; or Who ask for the bond or rent via a money transfer service.
