Outdoor areas are certainly popular when the sun is shining, however they’re also assets during the warmer months. It’s therefore important not to overlook this desirable lifestyle feature and show buyers how such spaces can be utilised during the colder months.

If it’s not already, consider furnishing your outdoor area with suitably sized furniture. Modular settings are a smart choice in a small space, and if you have the space, large dining settings, lounge settings and recliners are good options. Be sure to measure your alfresco area carefully to see which pieces of furniture you can comfortably fit whilst maintaining plenty of space to move around.

When selecting your outdoor furniture, keep in mind that lightweight settings are easier to move and opt for hardwearing, weatherproof materials that are low maintenance.

To achieve a feeling of warmth, add some thick throws over your outdoor furniture, while it’s also a great idea to have a heating source outside, whether that be a ceiling-mounted heating strip, gas patio heater or outdoor fireplace. Providing plenty of shade is also highly desirable, so if your outdoor area isn’t undercover, consider purchasing a portable outdoor umbrella or installing a retractable awning that offers protection from the sun and rain.
