Park Orchards house price record set without physical inspection
An incredible lifestyle estate built by The Block’s Kerrie and Spence Thomson, which has since undergone a $1.5m renovation, has been crowned Park Orchards’ most expensive home.
Terra Murus, at 36-38 South Valley Road, sold for a whopping price while private inspections were banned during stage four lockdown.
Barry Plant Manningham agent Theo Politis said a NSW buyer splashed out on the four-bedroom home sight unseen.
“They are relocating to Victoria and really liked the lifestyle and schools in the area, so they bought the property remotely,” Mr Politis said.
“They’re coming out of an architect-designed home themselves and were looking for their next property to be of the highest quality.”
He said the design by Pleysier Perkins architect Ramon Pleysier, whose work has featured on the Grand Designs Australia TV show, was part of the attraction for the buyer.
“The vendor also spent a lot of money improving the property, including half a million on the landscaping alone, so the buyer was confident it was one of the best,” Mr Politis added.
More than $1.5m was spent enhancing the 2561sq m property, after the vendor bought it for $3.09m from renovation experts Kerrie and Spence Thomson in 2015.
A rammed-earth garage, spectacular new kitchen, bathrooms, basketball half-court and a spacious main bedroom were added to the property in the past five years.
The six-star energy rated house also has a luxe saltwater pool, open living domain with a feature Fireorb fireplace, and a media room.
Mr Politis confirmed the property had set “a new benchmark” for Park Orchards, taking the title from 124 Knees Road, which sold for $3.8m in 2009, according to CoreLogic.
