We sat down with the Managing Director of the Barry Plant Eastern Group, Spiro Drossos to get his thoughts on the state of the real estate market.

Q. The most common real estate question at the moment is “How is the market?” What are your thoughts?

Spiro: Our team have just completed our 60th sale in 60 days and our open for inspection numbers in February were also up from the previous year. This raw data tells us that after a year of price correction in Manningham, Whitehorse, Nillumbik and Banyule the market is starting to stabilise with stronger buyer activity than in 2018.

Q. With so much negativity being reported about the property market, how is your Barry Plant team achieving these strong sales?

Spiro: Experience and a lot of hard work is extremely important in this changing market. Many agents have only worked in a boom market and lack the necessary tools to execute a successful sale in the current climate. Negotiating, marketing and service are the three major factors that determine a successful sale at the moment. Our agents have worked through these conditions before and understand that a higher service level is required with both buyers and vendors. Carefully executed marketing campaigns and our large buyer reach are crucial to achieving a positive outcome.

Q. Barry Plant Manningham were awarded Australia’s No.1 Office for the second year in a row. Can you explain how it was achieved?

Spiro: Our agency provides a high level of customer service, understands the local market and has an amazing work culture. Above all, our experienced sales and property management teams have a proven record of achieving outstanding results in any market for our clients.

Our standards are very high, as are our expectations. All agents undergo regular training to support ongoing professional growth and development, while those new to the industry are educated through our specialised cadet academy.

This culminates in having a stable of experienced high-performing agents that innovate, recreate and subsequently excel in the current market.

This is why our agency is home to some of Australia’s best-performing real estate agents and became the first agency to be named Australia’s number one office two years in a row.
