On the penultimate weekend of the auction season, Melbourne’s auction landscape was yet again in overdrive with a huge volume of properties going under the hammer as sellers hoped to make the most of the favourable selling conditions.

The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) had anticipated 2,420 homes would be auctioned around Victoria this week; according to realestate.com.au, the figure in Melbourne was 2,187 — a significant increase on the city’s previous record of 1,796.
