Do you enjoy taking in a bit of local theatre from time to time? If so, you’ll be pleased to know that the Essendon Theatre Company are launching their latest production this week and it’s a play that looks likely to put a smile on the faces of those who attend.

“Old Actors Never Die…They Simply Lose The Plot” is set in a ‘Home for Retired Theatricals’, a place that is more like a country house style hotel than a home for the elderly.

The plot unfolds as a veteran small part actor arrives and is overjoyed to find some of his best friends in residence. All goes well until the husband of three of the residents, (yes, you read that correctly), who is known as a serial womaniser goes missing. Word has it that he is on the run from Russian gangsters. The three wives decide that “He who pays the bills” must be rescued…but how to go about it?

What follows is a truly daft journey into the world of the rather eccentric wives that provide some of the best comic roles for senior actors you are ever likely to come across.

As is always the case with Essendon Theatre Company productions, there are only a limited number of performances available, and there is just one matinee scheduled.

All performances be held at the West Essendon Community Centre which is in Bradshaw Street (off Buckley Street) in West Essendon.
