As I pointed out in a post JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO, property prices in Melbourne have remained remarkably resilient over the past 12 months despite all the uncertainty we’ve been seeing during 2020.

However, when it comes to monitoring the performance of the property market there’s nothing quite like first-hand data to provide real certainty. So the figures we published on the back page of this weekend’s Realestate lift-out in the Herald-Sun would have given local homeowners lots of reason for a lift in confidence as we head towards the end of a year unlike any other we’ve experienced before.

In case you missed it, I’ve included a snapshot of the full-page announcement in the image above. It confirms that in the month of October this year, the Barry Plant network successfully sold 815 properties for happy clients. That’s despite the restrictions that were impacting on the way we did our job throughout the month, and the negativity that so many sections of the media were pushing throughout that period.

Whilst that number is certainly a pleasing one for everyone with an interest in the real estate market, what was even more interesting was the fact that this was the same number of sales that our group achieved in the same month in 2019! This demonstrates that the market is recovering strongly, particularly when you realise that our group’s auction success rate is around the 80% mark and that so many of our vendors are achieving results that are exceeding their own expectations.
