The suburb comprises mainly suburban residential family homes and blocks of units with an industrial sector between Canterbury and Colchester Roads, While the south-east part of the suburb borders the foothills of Mount Dandenong where you will find much larger homes on acreage.

You can drive to the city in under an hour on the Eastern Fwy or jump on the train at Mooroolbark (only 5 mins away)

There are many schools in the area to choose from including Kilsyth Primary School, St Richards Primary School, Ruskin Park Primary School, Pembroke Primary School, Billanook College, Mooroolbark East Primary School and Luther College.

There are a number of shopping centres and supermarkets in the suburb for your everyday needs including beauty salons and everyday groceries and located only 15 minutes away is Eastland and Westfield Knox for your larger retail needs.
