Famed for its peaceful, oak-lined streets and historic buildings, Ivanhoe is one of the oldest and most exclusive suburbs in Melbourne.
The suburb is home to some prestigious private schools such as Ivanhoe Grammar and Ivanhoe Girls Grammar whilst also being within the catchment area of the many great schools of the surrounding area. There are two railway stations within the suburb; Ivanhoe and Darebin stations.
In the suburb's centre is the former Heidelberg Town Hall, a classic 'art-deco' building on top of a hill, with a green neon clockface on a tower. Surrounding this is a plethora of shops, supermarkets, cafes and eateries. There is no shortage of greenery to enjoy either, whether on the golf course or in the parks and along the trails. This really is a beautiful suburb and a great place to raise a family.
It’s almost too good to be true: 33 hectares of parklands including a huge off-leash area, free electric BBQs, and on-leash walking trails – all only 8km from the city. Enter either via Separation St, Alphington, or from Rockbeare Grove, Ivanhoe.
