At Barry Plant, we're still in business - but in a safe and mostly virtual way.

The announcement by the Prime Minister stopping all on-site and in-room auctions from last night was a move that we expected and one we totally support.

We have been working hard over the last few weeks to ensure that all our practices and procedures keep everyone, who is engaged in any real estate activity, safe. That means our clients, their families, our staff and the community at large.

We are continuing to provide real estate services to the community. We are in the fortunate position of already having in place a lot of technology-enabled practices that mean that almost every part of real estate transactions can be virtual.

Here’s how we are now conducting real estate.

Private property inspections.

These viewings are by appointment only. We will first ask if you are unwell, or have any reason to suspect that you may have been exposed to Coronavirus. If you are healthy, then we’ll ask you to sanitise your hands and remove your shoes before entering a property. We will ask you not to touch anything, but the agent with you will be able to ensure that you see everything you want. Of course, we all need to comply with social distancing guidelines – that is at least 1.5 metres from the agent (and anyone else).

Virtual property inspections.

We can provide virtual tours of the property as well as virtual walk-throughs.

Meeting an agent.

You can meet our agents using a whole range of virtual face-to-face technology. Facetime, Zoom – any number of communication apps - or by phone. Just contact your local Barry Plant agent or office to organise a virtual appointment.

Online auctions.

We’ve been using online auctions for many months. We know they work. Ask our agent which system they are using.

Making an offer and signing documents.

We do have online management and negotiation tools, but we can also receive offers by email. We’ll still negotiate between buyers and sellers to arrive at an agreed price. Then we have several platforms available that provide secure, legal document signing.

Settlement.

We can provide you with options for a cost-effective completely online, conveyancing system where you can track exactly what’s happening.

Routine Inspections of investment properties

We’ve cancelled all Routine Inspections for the time being. Our property managers can talk to you about alternatives and are available to help all our clients with their questions and concerns.

Barry Plant is committed to playing its part in keeping the community safe and also helping those of you who need to carry out real estate activities during this.

Take care and, stay safe!
