Emma Gordon has joined the Barry Plant Group as Group Head of Property Management, in a role that is designed to provide high level expertise, support and training to a group that has nearly 35,000 properties under management.

With 31 years’ experience in property management and familiarity with every level role - from property manager to business owner to buying and selling rent rolls - Emma will bring a wealth of knowledge and practical advice to the role.

A trailblazer, Emma bought shares in her first business at the age of 26 and went on to open the first Property Management-only business in Melbourne – a business that she grew significantly over 10 years.

Emma joins Barry Plant after ten years as Head of Property Management and Victorian Property Management Trainer for Harcourts.

From the day-to-day challenges facing property managers to the complexity of buying and selling rent rolls, Emma has the experience to help Barry Plant business owners grow this section of their business. And that’s her aim. “I want to help business owners develop this important asset and I want Barry Plant clients to receive the finest service from our team of well-trained, knowledgeable and engaging staff. Although owning an investment property can be stressful Barry Plant provides the tools, resources and services that enable their clients to have piece of mind that they are in safe hands and that’s really exciting.”

A fully licensed real estate agent and qualified trainer, she loves being in a solution-focussed role and is looking forward to helping not only businesses grow but also people develop their skills.

She believes that success in property management is very much tied to communication and interpersonal skills. “If you can get the communication and relationships right, you’ll succeed,” she advises.

Mike McCarthy, CEO of the Barry Plant Group, is thrilled to have someone the calibre of Emma on board. “We are fairly unique as a franchise group in that we essentially don’t charge our offices a fee for their property management businesses. But despite this we understand how important it is to help our business owners develop an asset that is saleable and sets up their future financial security.”

Mike believes that having someone with Emma’s experience, qualifications and reputation will help every Barry Plant person in property management develop their skills with a resulting flow-on in client satisfaction.
