Loyalty and long service are fast becoming trademarks of the Barry Plant Group, as 2015 sees Victoria’s top real estate network welcome 59 new inductees to its Oak Club – an exclusive club established in 2000 as a means of recognising people who have worked for ten years or more in the Group.

The oak tree was chosen as a symbol for this club, as the tree is known for its strength, endurance and longevity – all characteristics of long-time, loyal employees.

Long-standing members and their partners will attend a special event at the exclusive venue, Fenix in Richmond, where the new members will be inducted and welcomed into the Oak Club, boosting the Club’s total membership to 153. “

To have such a large number of people who have been with Barry Plant for so long speaks volumes about the culture of our group,” said CEO Mike McCarthy. Of the Group’s 80 offices, ten have been with the group for more than 30 years, with the Coburg office clocking up an impressive 57 years. In addition to the new ten-year inductees, five members will also be inducted as 30-year members at this event; Con Constantinou, is one of them.

“I’m very proud to have been with Barry Plant for 30 years,” Con said. “It’s a real achievement to remain with one company for so long, especially these days, where it’s common for people to come and go after only a year or two.” Along with Con, the four other 30-year inductees to be celebrated include Terry Burgoyne, Bill Karp, George Metax, and Frank Bernardelle.

“The support we receive from Head Office enables us to tackle the challenges we face every day in real estate,” Frank Bernardelle said. Frank added that the interaction between offices and the willingness of others to share information and offer support was one of the main reasons he has remained with the group for 30 years.

Con said, “I love real estate, and I work with a great bunch of people – both my colleagues and the team at Head Office.” He added, “The difference with Barry Plant is that Head Office genuinely cares about us. They treat us like family, not a number.” Con said that Barry Plant provides many opportunities throughout the year for its members to come together as a group, to network and socialise, and to include their families.
