After tragically losing her life to cancer this year, a young Wendouree woman has left her property and the proceeds of its sale to the Austin Hospital in Heidelberg for cancer research. The Austin Hospital was the place where she underwent treatment for her illness.

The property at 1008 Grevillea Road, Wendouree is set to go to auction online this Saturday the 28th of August at 1:00 pm. Watch live or register to bid here - Anywhere Auctions - Online Auction.

“Both my parents passed away from cancer. I think everyone has someone in their family or has a friend who has been affected by cancer,” said Josh Coull, Licensed Real Estate Agent and Consultant at Barry Plant Ballarat, and the agent leading the sales campaign for the property “It is such a generous thing that this family is doing, and considering the circumstances, we made the decision to sell the house for free and not take any commission on the sale of the property.”

Upon deciding to help out a great cause, Josh and Karen Coull and the Barry Plant Ballarat team began seeking support from local businesses and suppliers to help get the property ready for sale. This has resulted in many local Ballarat professionals coming on board to help, including property styling, landscape gardening, painting, carpet laying, and even a coffee van. The heartwarming and original 3 bedroom brick veneer home at 1008 Grevillea Road enjoys refreshed features, from being freshly painted to having quality new carpet installed. The home also offers a generous shed at the back which works great as a workshop or for buyers who want to run a business from home. The property further promises a convenient location near Stockland Wendouree Shopping Centre, scenic parklands, schools, Western Freeway, and the best that greater Ballarat has to offer.

“It’s a fantastic cause and we’re so proud to be part of it. Aside from the profits of the sale of the house going to the Austin Hospital, we’re also encouraging everyone in the local community, or those who attend the auction, to put their hands in their pockets and donate to such a worthy cause,” said Josh Coull.

Prof Niall Tebbutt the Director of Medical Oncology Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre Austin Health made an official impact statement "Philanthropy has the ability to accelerate research discoveries. I was blown away to learn that through the Estate, research into cholangiocarcinomas was a focus of support. For Austin Health this will bring about many opportunities, from undertaking a clinical trial into a targeted therapy and genomic profiling or to support a research scientist to undertake pre-clinical research into this rare cancer. Ultimately we want to find treatments which deliver better patient outcomes, and this gift will bring us one step closer."
