Melbourne property prices – Good news on the Horizon - Barry Plant Manningham
As the pool of available properties gets smaller and smaller in the lead-up to Christmas, there have been some big results achieved for some of the more popular homes in each price segment. An air of desperation seems to be creeping into some buyers as they scramble to make a purchase before the year is out, often wanting to cement a place in their coveted school zone.
There is also some positive news for Melbourne prices heading into 2024!
Well, it turns out that Sydney and Melbourne have been keeping pace with almost identical property price growth trends which have continued for the last 20 years. Yet in 2023, Sydney prices rose by 10.8% and Melbourne by only 3.4%. Many economists are saying that this leaves Melbourne with sizeable growth potential as it reverts to its standard position of matching Sydney’s growth. With population growth forecast to continue and with more immigrants choosing Melbourne over Sydney, we can quickly see the opportunity for Melbourne prices to surge.
I guess we’re never sure when the next turn in prices might be but if you’re a buyer at the moment, now might be a very opportune time to get into the market.
