Here’s one of those stories that is probably best filed under “Only in America”! It turns out that the US-based financial services firm, PNC Wealth Management, releases an annual survey in December each year to measure what it would cost to purchase the 364 items required to complete all the verses of the Christmas Carol, “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. Clearly, someone has just a little bit too much time on their hands! Apparently, the cost of six geese-a-laying is up substantially this year, (who knew?), but if you wanted to buy each of these gifts just once, the cost would be over $32,500, whereas if you want to go the whole hog by buying the allocated number on each of the 12 days, the total cost would come in at a bit over $136,700…and that’s all in U.S. dollars of course! In case you’re curious, the breakdown of costs from PNC is as follows: One Partridge in a Pear Tree = $244.22 Two Turtle Doves = $146.99 Three French Hens = $213.44 Four Calling Birds = $705.52 Five Gold Rings = $881.96 Six Geese-a-Laying = $423.34 Seven Swans-a-Swimming = $8231.66 Eight Maids-a-Milking = $68.21 Nine Ladies Dancing = $8881.78 Ten Lords-a-Leaping = $6289.27 Eleven Pipers Piping = $3098.87 Twelve Drummers Drumming = $3357.11 Does anyone know where to get partridges and pear trees as a package deal in Australia?
