However, what many people overlook is the fact that auctions don’t have to be held on the weekend. In fact, our team has been conducting twilight auctions on weekdays for over a decade with excellent results, and this week was no different. In fact, we conducted three auctions on Monday and Tuesday evening, with all three properties successfully sold.

These included a lovely free-standing 3 bedroom Victorian in Albert Street, Moonee Ponds (pictured) which sold for $900,000, a large 5 bedroom family home in Cuthbert Street in Niddrie which sold for $795,000 and a 3 bedroom brick veneer in Harrington Road, Airport West which sold for $575,000.

As you can see from these results, a twilight mid-week auction held at this time of year can clearly be an effective strategy that works in a variety of price ranges and areas. We have found that these auctions have gained excellent acceptance within the market place, enabling buyers to come and bid after work whilst still leaving their weekends free to attend Open Houses.

Importantly from the vendor’s perspective, it allows your auction to stand out from the crowd and to generate excellent attendances as there are rarely any other auctions on at the same time to divide the potential pool of buyers!

All in all, it’s clear that the market remains strong and is likely to do so for quite some time to come. So if you are yet to make your move in 2014, there is still time to do it…but only if you’re quick. As we posted during the week, time is running out if you want to sell, so don’t hesitate any longer.
