Now that Spring is officially here, I thought that this would be an ideal time to remind homeowners in the City of Moonee Valley that selling your property in Spring is different to selling it in Winter.

One of the key differences is that as the weather gets warmer, your buyers’ attention will be turning more to the outdoor features of your property. So, if you are planning on selling your property in the next few months, and you have outdoor entertaining areas that may be of appeal to potential buyers, now is the time to ensure that they will benefit your sale, rather than being a drawback.

So whilst every outdoor area is different, there are certain key points that tend to apply to all of them. Here’s a few tips on the key points to consider:

Cleaning: Chances are that you’ll find that dust, cobwebs, leaves and grime have all accumulated over the Winter. So start with a pressure cleaner, degrease the barbecue, refill any ponds and clean any windows that overlook your outdoor entertaining areas.

Refurnish: If you stored your outdoor furniture out of the weather for Winter, give it a good clean. Then pull out and dust off the cushions, umbrellas and other colour pieces.

Get comfortable: In order to be an asset to your sale, your outdoor living zones need to look inviting. So make sure they look like comfortable places for your buyers to sit.

Shade & shelter: Ensure that when buyers are stepping outside on a sunny day, they can see that there are sheltered areas to enjoy the great outdoors.

See the space: In encouraging buyers to see the benefits of your outdoor space, make sure they can see that there is space for all their friends. Don’t clutter the area with too much furniture or decoration.

Set the scene: A few books, some glasses on the table and perhaps a couple of pot plants will help to add the final touches to this scene.

Last, but not least, don’t forget that one of the best ways to maximise your result when you sell your property is not to make mistakes in the first place. So, if you’d like to know how to avoid costly mistakes in preparing for a sale, you can give the team at Barry Plant Moonee Valley a call for some obligation-free advice and guidance by calling 9373 0000.
