In case you have missed the recent media reports, there have been some concerns raised regarding a potential hazard from two types of gas space heaters. Energy Safe Victoria has recently issued a warning about Vulcan Heritage and Pyrox Heritage gas heaters. This warning was issued in response to a tragic event in August last year which has recently been made public, where a Melbourne resident in her 60’s tragically died due to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning while using one of these heaters
For your safety, you need to do the following:
- Identify the type of gas heater you have in your property. The picture above of the affected gas heater will help you compare it to the heater/s in your residence.
- If you believe you have a Vulcan Heritage or Pyrox Heritage heater installed, DO NOT use the heater until it has been tested by a qualified gasfitter.
- If your property is managed by our office, please let us know as soon as possible, and provide images of the heater if you can.
- If you do have one of the affected Heritage heaters, we will organise a qualified gasfitter to attend your property and test the appliance to ensure your safety..
- Remember, if you have any concerns at all about the safety of your rental property, please contact your Property Manager as a matter of urgency to discuss these issues on 03 9379 5739.
