Moonee Valley property market looking strong

Let me begin this week’s Market Update with an apology, as this is the second week in a row where I have felt compelled to focus on an article from the weekend newspapers...

However, in a week where most of the reporting on the property market has been fairly negative, (and, as usual, using ‘doom and gloom’ style headlines which clearly missed the main point of recent market data), I saw a report in the Herald-Sun which had a clear focus on the Moonee Valley property market that I felt I really should share.

In case you missed it, the article in question by Samantha Landy appeared on page 21 of the Herald-Sun on Saturday January 5th, and it focused on the fact that both the REIV and realestate.com.au are forecasting that the Moonee Valley property market will be among Melbourne’s top performers in the coming year.

The article was headed “Airport areas ready to fly”, and opened with a paragraph that read…

“Suburbs clustered around Melbourne airport and on the city’s fringe are among the housing markets tipped to take off this year.”

The article also included the Top 10 selections from each of the REIV and realestate.com.au for Melbourne’s suburbs to watch in 2019. Whilst the REIV’s Top 10 was made up of forecasts from their industry experts, the list from realestate.com.au was based on the areas that experienced the largest increase in views per property listing in the last quarter of 2018. The good news for the Moonee Valley property market is that the lists included:
