Online auctions producing big results

The announcement on Thursday afternoon that Melbourne was heading into another (hopefully brief) lockdown had plenty of people frantically adjusting their plans for the weekend, not the least of which were a number of homeowners and agents who had been planning on conducting auctions on Saturday.

Some agents made the decision to bring auctions forward to Thursday evening, some postponed their auctions until the current lockdown ends, and some made the decision to continue with their scheduled auction by taking the event online.

That latter option was the preference taken by our team for Saturday’s scheduled auction at 4 Kenmore Court in Frankston, and the option to use digital technology proved to be a good one with the property being sold online for well above our excited vendor’s expectations.

The property in question was a recently renovated three-bedroom home (pictured) that made a very strong impression on a number of young families that inspected it. One of the highlights was a totally transformed kitchen with quality appliances, stone benchtops and unusual duck-egg blue splashbacks. Other features that that drew positive buyer feedback were the abundance of off-street parking and the close proximity to Kingsley Park Primary School.

An indication of the strength of the current market in the bayside suburbs was that despite the late change to the auction to an online event, there were seven motivated buyers registered to bid via Zoom. This level of competitive interest saw the bidding soar all the way to $815,000 which was close to 10 per cent above our happy vendor’s expectations…a great result for buyer and seller alike.

What is becoming increasingly clear in the bayside property market, particularly after the week we have just experienced, is that anyone considering selling in this Winter market can do so with plenty of confidence of an outstanding result, and potentially a result that exceeds all expectations.
