Staying safe as lockdown eases

There was definitely a collective sigh of relief heard around Melbourne when our latest lockdown was officially eased at midnight on Thursday.

However, there has been a little confusion in some quarters about what is, and isn’t, allowed when people want to inspect properties for sale or lease in the metropolitan area. Therefore, we thought this might be a good opportunity to clarify what is currently happening with property inspection rules, as we currently understand them.

In metropolitan Melbourne, which includes the bayside suburbs that our office specialises in:

  • Property inspections can be undertaken, but only by appointment and are limited to a maximum of ten people inside the property at any one time.
  • There is also a density limit of one person per 4 sqm of space, however this is unlikely to be relevant unless you are inspecting a VERY small unit.
  • Whilst Inspection Times will be advertised for certain properties, similar to an Open House in the past, you MUST speak to the agent handling that property to book your attendance during this time frame.
  • Due to attendance limits, you may be asked to remain in your car until others have left the property. You may also be asked to scan a QR code to register your attendance.
  • Public auctions are still permitted when conducted outdoors. There is a limit of 50 people attending the auction, and everyone attending will be asked to register by scanning a QR code, and to respect the personal spacing requirements whilst observing the auction.
  • Our offices are also now open to the public. If you are coming to one of our offices, please wear a mask and register your attendance by scanning the QR code on display.

As always, in all our interactions with you our staff members will observe the highest level of safety to protect your safety.

Hopefully we will see the restrictions being eased further in due course, but in the meantime please keep in mind that the current restrictions will enable you to buy, sell and lease properties without taking any undue risks, so please follow the rules the Government has set out.

Of course, if you have any questions about the current requirements of the bayside property market in general, don’t hesitate to give us a call this week at Barry Plant Frankston on 9781 3100.

Enjoy your long weekend and stay safe.

Best wishes,
