815 Good reasons to seize the day

Let’s face it, most people wouldn’t have too much trouble finding reasons to be fairly negative about the way this year has panned out.

From the bushfires to the pandemic, it’s been tough finding reasons to be positive about 2020 to date. However, when you look at the way the Melbourne property market has performed in the face of all this negativity, I think there’s actually been some good reasons for local property owners to smile of late, and we saw further proof this week of just what is possible with a positive mind-set.

I’m sure you would agree that whilst broad-based market statistics are always interesting, there’s nothing quite like first-hand data to provide clarity on what’s happening in the property market. So the figures our network published on the back page of this weekend’s Realestate lift-out in the Herald-Sun should have given local homeowners a real lift in confidence as we head towards the end of a year unlike any other we’ve experienced before.

In case you missed it, we’ve included a snapshot of the full-page announcement in the image above. It confirms that in the month of October this year, the Barry Plant network successfully sold 815 properties. That’s 815 vendors who are now moving on with their property plans, and 815 buyers who have seen their home ownership dreams come true, despite the restrictions and media negativity that was impacting on the way we did our job throughout the month.

That number is certainly a pleasing one for everyone with an interest in the real estate market, but even more interesting is the fact that this was the same number of sales that our group achieved in the same month in 2019! Clearly the market is recovering more strongly than many people expected, and this is reinforced by the fact that our auction success rate is averaging 80% mark and so many of our vendors are achieving results that have exceeded their own expectations.
