Rental Market Report: Making safety a priority
Whilst the past month has been a particularly rewarding one for our dedicated Property Management team at Barry Plant Gladstone Park, this week has brought a timely reminder of the important role our Property Managers play in protecting the safety of our tenants and landlords.
We have been advised by Energy Safe Victoria that they have issued an urgent warning about the safety of four different models of gas heaters. The heaters in question are:
- The Regency i31 supplied by Fireplace Products Australia;
- The Regency F38 & FG38 supplied by Fireplace Products Australia, which prior to 2006 were branded and supplied by Masport;
- The Nectre 2000 supplied by Glen Dimplex Australia; and
- The Real Flame Pyrotech also supplied by Glen Dimplex Australia.
Apparently, laboratory tests have shown that under certain circumstances these heaters could produce too much carbon monoxide. They will therefore need modification to prevent the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning.
In order to protect the safety of all residents, you need to identify the type of gas heater you have in your property. I’ve included some pictures below of the affected gas heaters to make it easier to compare them to any heaters in your rental property, (or your own residence for that matter).
If you do have one of the affected heaters, it is vital that you DO NOT USE IT until it has been tested by a qualified gasfitter. So if you do have one, or you are at all unsure about what brand of heater you have in your rental property, please contact our Property Management team so that we address this issue immediately.
