Property inspections are on again

Based on the conversations I’ve been having with the home owners of the City of Moonee Valley and surrounding suburbs over the past few months, I think there would have been lots of smiling faces today as our Premier announced that the easing of restrictions on physical property inspections had been brought forward to midnight tonight.

As many of our readers will already be aware, the banning of individual property inspections put many Melbourne residents under enormous pressure over the past few months. This short-sighted rule forced all those home buyers who had already sold their property, along with the buyers who had already purchased another property and had to sell in order to fund their purchase, into incredibly stressful situations. Of course, there are a number of renters who faced similar issues as well. So today’s announcement will be a source of joy for many.

The important thing to remember about this newly revised ‘road map’ is that the traditional Spring property market will be distinctly abbreviated this year, so making the most of the available time becomes critical if you want to achieve your property goals in 2020.

If you are a home buyer, you might want to make a few phone calls this week to make appointment times to view any of the properties that have caught your eye as you scrolled through the various internet sites in recent weeks. Keep in mind that there will be lots of other highly motivated buyers with the same idea, so the sooner you lock in an appointment to inspect a property, the better off you’ll be.

For anyone planning on selling, I would urge you to start planning your sale right now. All of those suppliers that we rely on to get your property on the market, from photographers and video producers to copywriters, floorplan producers, board companies, conveyancers and more will all be flooded with countless home owners all wanting things ‘done yesterday’. The sooner we can lock in times on your behalf, the sooner your property will be seen by all those frustrated buyers.

Remember, there are now just nine weekends left before we hit December, so if you’d like to make the most of the pent-up demand that has been building over the past few months, be sure to give one of the team at Barry Plant Moonee Valley a call this week on 9319 1700.

Best wishes,

Bill Karp
