Some of the buyers we have been dealing with recently have commented that the property market in Northcote and Thornbury seems to have stepped up a gear in recent weeks, and we saw further evidence of that trend this week with the Barry Plant team in the inner-north achieving some outstanding sales results for our vendors in each of these suburbs.

If you’ve been watching the real estate market in Northcote and Thornbury, you may already have noticed that one of our scheduled auctions this weekend attracted such strong interest that the sold sign went up early.

This result involved a fully renovated three-bedroom home at 205 Miller Street, Thornbury, a location that provided easy access to the popular eateries and cafes on Gilbert Road and Miller Street, as well as the leafy reserves that fringe Merri Creek.

The home itself made a real impact on those that visited, particularly with the quality appointments in the kitchen, the striking bathroom renovation, and the delightful entertainer’s terrace. As we mentioned above, the buyer interest was so strong that we ended up having four sets of buyers making competitive early offers. As a result, the vendors decided to accept the best of these, with a sale at $1.06 million producing a premium of almost $100,000 above expectations. Congratulations to all involved.

Another result that certainly got locals talking involved another quality renovation, this time on a three-bedroom Californian Bungalow at 1/184 Separation Street, Northcote. Combining the best of the abundant old-world character with some 21st century refinements, this appealing property provided comfortable access to many of Northcote’s popular lifestyle locations, including All Nations Park, High Street and the shops at Northcote Plaza.

A productive auction in the Spring sunshine saw a young couple secure their first home for $1.085 million. As you can see from the photo, both the vendors and purchasers were thrilled with the result.

The important thing to remember if you are planning on selling a property this Spring in Northcote and Thornbury, or any of the adjoining suburbs in Melbourne’s inner north, is not to overlook the importance of a carefully planned marketing campaign. So don’t hesitate to give the team a call for some obligation-free advice.
