As regular readers will know, we have been reporting on the strong buyer interest in the townhouse market in Melbourne’s inner-north throughout this past year, and it seems that this week’s Market Update will be no different!

If you follow our social media feeds you may have noticed that our team has been conducting some ‘Off-the-plan Property Showcases’ on Saturdays, enabling buyers to come into our office to find out more about what is currently available in brand new townhouse developments around the area, as well as finding out about the benefits of buying a property that has not yet been built. These events have certainly been well received by several buyers.

However, it’s not just the yet-to-be-built townhouses that are attracting attention, as we saw this weekend when we auctioned a three-bedroom townhouse at 2/198 Gower Street in Preston (pictured).

Elegantly presented and well designed, this good-looking home was set securely at the rear of a group of two in a convenient location. A short walk down Gower Street gave you access to the trams on Plenty Road, whilst strolling a bit further landed you at Preston Market and the station.

Designed for family flexibility, the floorplan included two bedrooms on the upper level, well away from the third bedroom on the lower level, whilst practical features like ample storage space and an appealing kitchen were also features.

As you can see from the photo, it was smiles all round from both buyers and vendors when the SOLD sticker went up at a very satisfying $765,000.

The important thing to remember if you are planning on selling in 2018, whether you are looking to focus on the townhouse market or something completely different, is that time is getting tight. There are probably only seven, or at most eight, weekends left in the year to auction or open your property, so there’s no time to wait.
