If you attended one of our Open Houses this week you won’t need us to tell you just how strong the level of buyer interest is in property in our part of Melbourne’s inner-north. However, one of the trends that we have been reporting on SINCE LATE LAST YEAR has been the growing interest from buyers in securing a brand-new home in an area more widely known for its period architecture and well established homes

We saw another example of the strong interest in new property this week, (both from the perspective of those wanting to live in it, and those wishing to produce it), with the successful sale of a property on Plenty Road in Preston.

From initial perceptions, this property was an older style 3-bedroom home on a bit over 500sqm of land. What made it more interesting was the fact that it came with town planning approval for the construction of five brand new townhouses on the site. Indeed, our vendor already had buyers lined up to two out of the five townhouses, making this an extremely interesting opportunity for an astute developer. As a result, we secured a new owner at just under $1.3 million, and are looking forward to seeing the remaining three townhouses sold and the building works started for those buyers who are looking forward to seeing their future homes completed.

The growth in interest in brand new homes can also be seen in a couple of exciting opportunities to secure some homes that are under construction right now. These include:

  • One remaining 2-bedroom townhouse in a group of four, currently under construction in Swallow Street, Preston.
  • One remaining 3-bedroom townhouse in a boutique group of three, currently under construction in Hawker Avenue, Preston.
  • A brand-new street-facing 2-bedroom townhouse that is completed and ready to go in Wood Street, Preston.

As you can see, there are a few exciting opportunities for buyers who are keen to secure a brand-new home, as long as they’re quick. If you’d like to know more, don’t hesitate to give us a call at Barry Plant Preston.
