First home buyers still busy in December

One example of first home buyer activity involved this week’s scheduled auction of a 2-bedroom front townhouse at 1/1 Bowden Street in Preston. This well cared for property enjoyed a good location within walking distance of the thriving High Street shops and cafes, Preston Market, Regent station, Preston Primary School and the No.86 tram on Plenty Road. Such was the strong response that we received from first home buyers, along with some investors, that the vendors decided to accept a convincing early offer of $505,000 rather than waiting for this weekend’s scheduled auction.

Another example involved a 2-bedroom clinker brick home at 26 Moreton Crescent in Bundoora. This one offered a great location, backing onto Gresswell Forest with its abundance of walking tracks and close to Polaris shopping precinct, Plenty Road and good schools.

Once again this was a property that attracted plenty for attention from first home buyers, with an outstanding sale being wrapped up during the week at $610,500. Whilst Bundoora is a little further afield than we usually market properties in, this sale proved the value of the co-operative nature of the Barry Plant network, as it was both listed and sold by members of our team at Barry Plant Preston.

Results like these show that with the right marketing and approach, it is still possible to sell property at almost any time of the year. Indeed, we are anticipating that we’ll see several more SOLD stickers going up before Santa’s sleigh arrives.
