Focus growing on the inner north
It was only a few weeks ago that we POSTED A REPORT detailing the media coverage of the growing awareness that Melbourne’s inner-north has been gaining in status among home buyers in recent times.
So it was interesting to read in this week’s Saturday Herald-Sun that Northcote was named among the six suburbs of Melbourne tipped to deliver ‘particularly strong price growth in the near future’. Indeed, the term used in the article was a “supercharged suburb”!
In the article headed “Housing back on the boil” by Samantha Landy, (it was on page 7 for those that still have the paper at home), the paper said,
“Melbourne has gone from having zero to 21 “rising” property markets in a quarter, reflecting a rapid jump from downturn to recovery mode, a new report shows.
The rising markets named in Hotspotting’s latest Price Predictor Index are spread across 14 council areas on all sides of the city.
They include six “supercharged suburbs” expected to deliver particularly “strong growth in the near future”:..Ascot Vale, Diamond Creek, Hampton, Moorabbin, Northcote and Wollert.”
These forecasts are based on the fact that residential sales had increased over consecutive quarters in each of these postcodes which is considered a precursor to price rises.
Interestingly, the inner-north also featured in the areas where the apartment market has also risen strongly with Fairfield being among Melbourne’s top performers as well.
As we have mentioned in previous posts, a growing awareness of the inner north among homebuyers can only be good news for anyone planning on selling in 2019. So, whilst time is getting tight, there is still time to achieve a strong pre-Christmas sale if you get the wheels in motion this week.
