It seems that the longer you are active in the real estate industry, the more you come to appreciate those special properties that are unlike any other on the rare occasions that they cross your path. The team at Barry Plant Inner North were reminded of this when we were asked to market what others may have described as “an updated 1970’s flat” in Northcote, with the campaign coming to a head with an auction this weekend.

As we mentioned in last week's news update, Northcote is an area that has real appeal to many different types of home buyers in Melbourne. However, very few Northcote buyers would ever have come across a setting like an apartment at 27/20 Ross Street.

Situated right on the edge of the lush greenery that surrounds Merri Creek, this group of tightly held apartments had the feel of a bushland retreat, complete with a chorus of birdsong and breezes through the leaves. Close proximity to Oldis Gardens further enhanced this apartment’s nature-laden atmosphere. Yet it was within a five-minute stroll of Westgarth Train Station plus the cafes and trams on High Street, making an easy inner-city commute.

The apartment itself had been tastefully updated, offering a stylish kitchen with stainless steel appliances, generous living space with timber feature floors, two robed bedrooms and a combined bathroom and laundry.

Despite the absence of a lift and two flights of stairs to negotiate, this unusual offering produced a competitive auction, with the sale price exceeding our happy vendor’s expectations. As you can see in the photo, everyone seemed happy with the final result.

The key message for anyone considering selling in Northcote, or any of the adjoining suburbs in Melbourne’s inner north, is that the favourable weather of Autumn will soon begin to turn to Winter, so don’t leave it too long to get the wheels in motion.

If you’d like some experienced advice and timely tips on how to maximise your result in the current market, just as we did in Northcote this week, you can call our team at any time.
