A snapshot of the Darebin community
The City of Darebin has always been a diverse community which brings together people from a wide variety of backgrounds. As the Council recently said, “Ours is a community that values and celebrates the things that make us different, as well as the things that bring us together”.
From time to time the Darebin Council provides various snapshots of our community, so we thought we’d share some of the most recent data.
- Over 161,000 people live within the municipality of Darebin.
- The land area of Darebin is 5,344 Hectares.
- 138 languages are spoken by our residents.
- 33% of our residents were born overseas.
- Over 2000 international students call Darebin home.
- Over 200 asylum seekers call Darebin home.
- 37 different religions are practised in Darebin.
