The announcement by the State Government this week that physical property inspections were back on the agenda now that 70% of Victorians have had at least one Coronavirus jab was greeted by a huge sigh of relief from countless home buyers and renters.

Mind you, this coincided with a rush of frantic phone calls from numerous buyers who were keen to get through the doors of various listings and to take the process of buying their next home up a gear.

Clearly there are a lot of Melbourne residents who are a little unsure of how the new rules work following the easing of restriction from midnight last Friday, September 17th. So here’s a summary of how things will be working for the next few weeks.

  • Yes, you can now physically inspect a property for sale or rent, but only by appointment.
  • The property must be unoccupied at the time you inspect it.
  • In-person inspections are limited to one household at a time, and the agent must remain outside while the inspection is under way.
  • You are required to your register your attendance by scanning a QR code prior to entering the property.
  • You will also need to have photo ID on you.
  • To help prevent the spread of the virus, everyone is required to wear a mask and to maintain appropriate distancing at all times.
  • Auctions will continue to be conducted online, so if you wish to bid it is important to contact the agent to register prior to the auction.

I hope that makes things clearer for those who may have been unsure.

What there is no uncertainty about at all is that as of this week the Spring property market is up and running at full speed. But keep in mind that we’ve already lost several weeks of the season due to uncertainty about the restrictions, so we would urge you not to waste any time at all in getting your property on the market if you want to make the most of the enormous pent-up demand that the past few months have created.

If you need any advice or assistance, or perhaps an update on what your property could achieve in this high-demand market, don’t hesitate to give us a call this week at Barry Plant Caroline Springs and Taylors Lakes on 9390 8333.

Best wishes,
