Active bidding in the Spring sunshine

We conducted our first auction of the Spring this week and were excited to kick off the season with a gorgeous sunny Saturday morning that was a prime example of why so many people love this time of year in our fair City.

The property in question was a potential-packed three-bedroom home at 108 David Street in Lalor which was being offered for sale for the first time since it was built. This property drew the attention of a variety of buyers, from first home buyers keen to renovate or extend, to investors looking at upgrading and renting it out, and some local builders and developers considering putting the 655 sqm block to a new use.

The auction itself attracted a large crowd in the appealing conditions, and they were not disappointed as they watched a competitive bidding duel that produced a very pleasing sale at $720,000.

The feedback that we received during the campaign suggested that buyers were particularly drawn to the convenience of the location, providing easy access to St Luke's Primary and Lalor Secondary College, the park and shops in Lorne Street, Station Street and May Road cafes and shopping, not to mention Lalor Station and Epping Plaza.

What this and several other recent property sales have confirmed is that there is definitely a clear degree of buyer confidence in our part of Melbourne. It’s a confidence that should also flow through to all those local homeowners who are considering selling and making the most of the favourable Spring weather.

But as I have said several times in OUR RECENT POSTS, the key to a successful Spring sale in 2026 is not to leave it too late to get the wheels in motion. Apart from anything else, you want to avoid having your property on the market during the Victorian State election, which is due in November.
