Autumn 2026 finishes with a flourish
It’s one thing to observe what a number of signs have been suggesting for several weeks...But there’s nothing quite like a real-time example to confirm your impressions about the underlying resilience of the property market in the northern corridor of Melbourne, and that’s what we got with this week’s auction in Thomastown.
Our last auction of the Autumn season involved a three-bedroom home on around 535 square metres of land at 169 Victoria Drive. This was a property that attracted interest from a range of buyers, from first home aspirants and investors to local developers keen to explore what the site itself might offer.
All three types of buyers were attracted by the location which is within easy walking distance of Thomastown Meadows Primary School and just minutes from key amenities such as the local shops, the Thomastown Recreation and Aquatic Centre, the trains and local parklands.
The home itself presented as a neat option as is, whilst offering loads of potential for future updates when, and if, the new owners felt the urge.
As result of this broad appeal, the auction attracted good interest despite the recent talk about interest rates and the Federal Budget. We saw spirited bidding from four interested parties, with several others missing the chance to raise their hands due to the competitive interest. As you can see from the photo, the successful buyer was excited about his win and is looking forward to getting started with his renovations.
The fact that this property was sold under the hammer, with several interested buyers missing out and keen to secure their own place in our area as soon as possible, tells you everything you need to know. This level of buyer focus in the current market should send a strong message to anyone considering buying or selling in 2026…don’t wait!
If you need any assistance in bringing your own property plans to reality, whether you are buying, selling or both, don’t hesitate to give us a call this week at Barry Plant Thomastown on 9466 3233.
