December market still performing

The arrival of December might have had some people assuming that the Melbourne property market would start winding down ready for a break while Santa and the elves get busy.

However, as is so often the case at this time of year, we are noticing that a solid number of homebuyers are still active in the northern corridor of Melbourne, with many keen to secure their next home before the break.

Sure, the market will start to slow down as we get close to the Christmas/New Year period, but that hasn’t happened just yet.

A prime example of what can happen at this time of year involved a recent sale of a three-bedroom home in Valentine Avenue, Thomastown (pictured). This property was originally schedule for auction this weekend, however such was the appeal for those buyers who saw it early in the campaign, the sale was concluded well before the auctioneer had a chance to raise the gavel.

In fact, the appeal of its convenient location, with Lalor East Primary School and the shops at Lalor Plaza just around the corner, and the Dalton Road buses at the end of the street, that this comfortable family home on around 530sqm was sold before the photographer even had a chance to step inside, let along the listing going up on the internet!

So, as you can see, there is still strong demand for good real estate at this time of year. Of course, if you are a buyer concerned about missing your chance, don’t forget that we still have one more auction before the end of the year…that’s the potential-filled three bedrooms home at 82 Heyington Avenue in Thomastown. In the meantime, for those who may be more focused on making plans for 2024, whether you plan on selling, buying, leasing (or a combination of any of these), our team at Barry Plant Thomaston are always happy to assist, so feel free to give us a call this week on 9466 3233.

Best wishes,
