Local market attracting more attention

There is no doubt in my mind that the property market in the City of Whittlesea is attracting the attention of an increasing number of home buyers from all over Melbourne.

In recent times we have noticed a continuing increase in the level of enquiries for property for sale, with buyers mentioning the solid value for money and high level of accessibility of homes in our area, particularly those in suburbs like Thomastown and Lalor.

With this in mind, it was interesting to see the full-page article (pictured) in the Herald-Sun on Saturday, (July 24th), which examined data from the REIV to examine which suburbs around Melbourne offered the best value for money within specific distances from the CBD.

It came as no surprise to our team at Barry Plant Thomastown that when the journalist, Alanah Frost, looked at which suburbs in the 10-to-20-kilometre ring around Melbourne offered “affordability, attractive amenities and lifestyle”, both Lalor and Thomastown were ranked among the top four options.

Comments like these tend to reinforce the growing demand across the Melbourne market. Recent figures from realestate.com.au show that there has been an increase of more than 80 per cent in property sales across Melbourne when compared with the same period last year, whilst in Melbourne’s north-east, west and south-east, sales numbers have more than doubled over that period.

With so many buyer’s eyes turning towards the local property market, it’s a great time to be selling. Thus, if you have plans to move in 2021, keep in mind that the current lockdown will be over before we know it, and the start of the Spring market will be just a matter of weeks away. That means that right now is the time to start getting prepared.

If you’d like any assistance, or even just some tips on what the buyers may respond to, (and what they won’t), you can give us a call at Barry Plant Thomastown this week for some experienced, obligation-free tips on 9466 3233.

Cheers,

Con Constantinou
