Frankston North was nicknamed 'The Pines' after the former Australian Defence Force/Ministry of Housing "Pines Forest Estate" which made up most of the suburb.
Frankston North is rich in facilities, close to the beach, in easy reach to freeways, public transport, schools, parks, shops, and right on the doorstep of the Mornington Peninsula.
There’s plenty to do in and around the suburb, spend a day at the beach or down at Frankston Pier, swim laps at the Peninsula Aquatic Centre, take in the views from Panorama Track Lookout or play a round of golf at the Kingswood Country Golf Club.
There are many schools in the area including Mahogany Rise Primary School, Monterey Secondary College, Aldercourt Primary School, Karingal Primary School and John Paul College to name a few. On top of that, there are many other schools in surrounding areas as well as pre-school and day care centres.
Its is less than 5 minutes to Kananook Train station or around 10 minutes to the Frankston Train station. With a number of buses that run throughout the suburb, you will alway be able to get where you need to go.
