About Panton Hill

Panton Hill is a charming and tranquil town nestled approximately 32 kilometres north-east of Melbourne's CBD (about a 40-minute drive), offering residents a genuine escape to the country while remaining connected to the city.

The area is well-equipped with essential amenities, including the historic Panton Hill Hotel, a General Store, a Post Office, and a local Church. Wine enthusiasts will appreciate the local cellars, most notably the Panton Hill Winery, which doubles as a great spot for a meal alongside the hotel's classic dining option.

Known for its history as a goldfield and current status as a wine and agricultural area. Panton Hill has a historical feel and is a popular location for retirees and families with its scenic countryside - its landscape is often compared to Tuscany in Italy, with rolling hills and a relaxed, charming atmosphere.

For families with kids, the small, community-focused Panton Hill Primary School is located within the suburb, with nearby secondary options including Diamond Valley Secondary College and Eltham College, as well as several local preschools.

For recreation, residents enjoy the natural beauty of AR Cracknell Reserve and the extensive walking tracks of the Panton Hill Bushland Reserve, making the suburb ideal for those who prioritise Parks & Recreation.

The Panton Hill Bushland Reserve System is a major feature, covering around 140 hectares of remnant bushland in the Watsons Creek catchment. These reserves are highly valued for their environmental significance, hosting several rare and threatened plant and animal species, and are important to the Wurundjeri community, the Traditional Owners of the land. The reserves have an extensive network of trails for bushwalking, horse riding, and cycling.

Panton Hill is a 5 minute drive from Hurstbridge and approximately 16 minutes drive to Eltham, where there's a train line to the city. The train ride from Hurstbridge to Flinders Street Station in Melbourne's city centre is approximately 45-55 minutes depending on the time of day.
