About Mount Evelyn

Mount Evelyn is a leafy, green suburb located at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges 37km north-east of Melbournes CBD.

The Warburton Trail, A walking/ Cycling track that follows the old rail line from Lilydale to Warburton runs through Mount Evelyn. There are cycling and walking groups that get together and do the trail and stop at ‘The Cog’ Bike Café in Mount Evelyn along the way. The Mount Evelyn Aquaduct Trail is another walking track that connects Swansea Rd to Hunter Rd and part of the Dandenong Ranges National Park. And is lovely for a weekend walk.

The community and businesses in the suburb, are supportive of each other and among other things all get together for the Mt Evelyn Street Party which held bi-annually local businesses and community members donate their time and services for the a 1950's styled event with food, workshops, activities, live performers, competitions and a fashion parade. A great day out for families.

There are a number of great schools in Mount Evelyn also such as Mount Evelyn Primary School, St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Mt. Evelyn, Birmingham Primary School, Yarra Hills Secondary College Mount Evelyn Campus and Mount Evelyn Christian School.

Mount Evelyn has an IGA supermarket, a couple of bakeries, cafes, butchers, post office, newsagents, restaurants like pizza, fish and chips, Thai, Chinese, subway and even a frozen yoghurt bar. Only 5 minutes down the road to Lilydale where you’ll find Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, Big W and a number of other shops and restaurants.

The locals love it here, you can still get a decent sized block with land and it’s a great place to raise a family.
