During these Stage 4 restrictions, a lot of people are making plans for a future when we get to COVID-normal. And those plans can include moving home; upsizing, downsizing, tree-changing or sea-changing.

You need to know how much your home might be worth to make viable plans. Even though we can’t meet with you and inspect your home, we do have a very thorough process and, with your help, we can provide you with a report that will give you a well-informed opinion on what your property might sell for.

Some agents will just ask for your address, look up how much the home sold for last time, add a percentage for how much the real estate market has risen in the years since, and that’s the price they give you. But that doesn’t take into account that you’ve added a pool, totally renovated, extended or added a sensational outdoor entertaining area. These improvements and changes carry significant weight when providing you with a useful appraisal figure.

When you contact one of our agents, they’ll set up a time to talk to you about your home, what changes you’ve made since you bought it (if any) and then ask you to take them on a video tour of your home, including the outside. We can use a variety of phone or tablet-based video apps including FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp video or Zoom – whichever suits you best.

Following the discussion and the virtual tour, our agent will then access all the information and reports they have on the local real estate market, trends, recent sales of comparable properties and analyse the data to come up with a well-considered opinion on what your property might sell for in the current market.

They will then prepare a detailed report for you that will include an estimate of what the property may sell for as well as information on how your Barry Plant agent would go about optimising that price, which will be emailed to you.
