Every property sold, raises money for Make-A-Wish Australia, to grant wishes for critically ill teenagers and children

The amount Barry Plant donates at the end of Wishtober depends very much on how many properties we sell.  So we keenly watch the data as every new sale is reported. We’re off to a pretty good start and we reckon in week one, we’ve raised around $10K so far for Make-A-Wish Australia.

Noah, who is the face of our Wishtober campaign this year, is a great example of just how much difference the granting of a wish can be for critically ill children.

Sam, Noah’s mother, explains. “When he got to the end of six months of treatment for his anaplastic large cell lymphoma, we said ‘no more needles’, and then they added another year on. And then with COVID and the lockdowns, we had to break a lot of promises.

“But the wish – getting his best friend – was something he knew we couldn’t take away from him. And that just kept him going.”

When Noah first saw a photo of the puppy he cried tears of happiness.  “I have never seen my son cry of happiness”, Sam said. “I didn’t think kids that little were able to be that emotional. He was like, ‘mum, I have tears in my eyes, and I just cannot wait to meet him’.”

Barry Plant is thrilled that the money we raise during Wishtober will be used to grant similar wishes for children who desperately need a break from all the medical treatments and hospitalisations.  Giving them something to look forward to is so important.
