Berwick has a mixture of established properties and new estates and shopping complexes. The older North side of Berwick, close to Main Street and the suburb centre, has beautiful tree-lined streets and period homes. Main Street has cafes, boutique shops and restaurants where you can sit and enjoy the surrounds.
The more newly developed side of Berwick, right side of the freeway exit, features new estates, modern homes on smaller blocks and larger commercial shopping centers.
The town has an Australian Rules football team competing in the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League and an Association football team called Berwick City Football Club. The town also has a successful cricket club known as the "Wickers" and later changed to the Berwick Bears that compete in the DDCA competition and a tennis club that competes in the BDTA (Berwick & District Tennis Association). Golfers play at the Berwick-Montuna Golf Club on Emerald-Beaconsfield Road, Guys Hill.
There is also Little Athletics at Edwin Flack Reserve Berwick has a train station and bus network.
