About Heathmont

Heathmont is a suburb in the municipality of Maroondah, approximately 25km to the east of the Melbourne CBD.

Superbly located within close proximity to Eastlink, the city of Maroondah offers an array of shopping facilities such as Eastland, markets and community services, sporting amenities and a host of schooling opportunities at Heathmont East Primary School, Great Ryrie Primary School, Marlborough Primary School and Heathmont College all located within the suburb.

Heathmont was originally covered by hedge-to-hedge orchards, and, despite the residential encroachment, has retained much of its bushy, village character with views over the hills to Mt Dandenong. Heathmont is connected to the centre of Melbourne by rail and the Maroondah Highway.

Heathmont today is a popular area for families. There's a sporting hub at HE Parker Reserve, it houses the Nets stadium (netball and volleyball) - which recently underwent an $8 million upgrade, the Heathmont Jets Football Club and the Heathmont Cricket Club in the soon to be redeveloped clubrooms; and the HE Parker Reserve Tennis Club. It also accesses the Dandenong Creek walking trail.

The Heathmont Shopping Centre provides services to the suburb. It includes a handful of cafes (including modern inner-city-style The Village Food Store, Chapter Too and Barclays), a Bendigo Bank, an IGA Supermarket, two butcher shops (one organic), two bakeries (including a Bakers Delight), a newsagent, takeaway shops, and a post office. There is plenty of parking and the main shopping precinct is opposite the Heathmont railway station. The distant Mount Dandenong and Dandenong Ranges are visible from much of this shopping strip, offering a somewhat 'Californian' feel to the environment.

In close proximity to everything that Ringwood and Eastland has to offer, Heathmont is a great place to call home.
